United Parcel Service of America Inc. Case Solution

UPS has become a global public company with a market capitalization of $ 74 billion, more than 428,000 employees, $ 47 billion in sales and operations in more than 200 countries. A recognized leader among companies package delivery, its growth has been higher than the industry average and has always been through geographic expansion. In 1998, UPS changed its business model for synchronized Commerce and adopted a new growth strategy called Four Quadrant model, hoping to expand its market space by transforming into a logistics solutions company. But eight years after these changes, UPS generated 17% of its income from nonpackage deliveries, with only $ 2 million of operating income from new business. The annual report of the company, 2006, President and CEO of UPS management acknowledged the disappointing results and realized that these results must meet the public market.
