In the year 2014, Arjun Dhawan (MBA 2004), the president of HCC Concessions, worked towards the conclusion of his largest road development job yet. The route, a 250-kilometer stretch leading into the interior of the state of West Bengal from the crucial eastern Indian port of Kolkata, is a prime example of both the advantages and the disadvantages of public-private partnerships in the transport sector of India. Aside from the delays that took place along with the pressure from the politics, the HCC Concessions was nearly finished making the road and was receiving offers to purchase the project’s equity.
