The Executives Role in Social Business Case Solution & Answer

Social technologies are increasingly important for companies time, according to a survey by the MIT Sloan Management Review and Deloitte. However, the adoption of social technologies often means changing the way we work, and this means that leaders must invest time and effort in the purpose and value of the use of new tools as well as providing financial and organizational support needed to sustain changes in the workflow over time. The authors’research is based on two surveys conducted in 2011 and 2012, as well as dozens of interviews with leaders and opinion leaders of social enterprises. The 2012 survey had more than 2,500 respondents in 25 industries and 99 countries. According to their findings, 52% of executives say their companies are at an early stage of development of social skills. For these managers, the main obstacles to the use of social entrepreneurship is a lack of strategy, no case of a business and a lack of understanding of management. The authors explain the importance of three types of support from senior management initiatives based on social technologies: (1) support for these initiatives over time, not just when they are put in place, (2) executives ‘own use of social technologies as a sign of their importance, and (3) a pragmatic attitude to what extent and when to measure the results of these initiatives. As traders rely on social tools, the relationship between the CMO and CIOs can change, and some organizations are hiring managing digital keys, the authors note. They found that successful social business initiatives can produce changes in the way leaders work together.
