Pandemic 2009 H1N1 poses enormous challenges for health services of the state through the U.S. This case focuses on the experience of Tennessee – which lasted an intense resurgence of the disease in late summer and early fall of 2009 – and explores in particular how state health officials, in collaboration with its partners in the local government and the private sector were mobilized in advance this second wave of the disease. A table of preparedness efforts, such as the development of mechanisms for the distribution of vaccines, ultimately, the state in a strong position to deal with the H1N1 comes autumn, but health officials still experience significant difficulties in several areas, including the provision of vaccines, call an anxious public, and manage the influx of patients seeking care.
