“Shaping the future of solar energy: climate change, industrial policy and free trade (Part B)” is the second of a two-part event, but also can be taught in its own session. May 2013, the EU Trade Commissioner of the European Union, Karel De Gucht, faces a career-defining choice. Soon a decision on the case antidumping largest EU, initiated by a group of European manufacturers of solar panels against Chinese manufacturers announced. De Gucht was aware that the imposition of tariffs on Chinese solar companies could lead to a broader trade war between two of the largest economies in the world.
