Roaring Dragon Hotel A Second Attempt at Modernization case solution
During modernization, several human resource management issues became increasingly apparent; solving these issues had become a priority. In 2000, the provincial authorities and stakeholders of the RDH made their very first effort at modernizing the resort by hiring an internationally well-known firm to take on the upgrade. The fatal consequence caused the provincial authorities and stakeholders to lose impetus, spirit and motivation until six years after. The RDH board as well as a fresh joint venture owner regained enough assurance for another time to try modernization. They contracted Premium Hotel Services (PHS) to engage in the next effort at enhancing operations. The PHS discovered the quality of policies emerging from the continuing development of the Chinese market, growing employee turnover of new staff and senior workers were presenting issues never faced before at the RDH. How could these issues be solved by the stakeholders and have the RDH appear as an internationally accepted five star, resort that is commercially feasible?
