Radio One (NYSE: ROIA and RIOAK), the largest radio group led African Americans in the country, had the opportunity to acquire the 12 urban stations in 50 markets Clear Channel Communications, Inc. (NYSE: CCU) in winter 2000. The stations were sold to Clear Channel Communications, Inc. for the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for approval of the acquisition of AMFM, Inc. (NYSE: AFM). Radio One also negotiate the acquisition of nine stations in Charlotte, North Carolina, Augusta, Georgia, and Indianapolis, Indiana.
