The membership of UK of the EEC was vetoed by French President Charles De Gaullebecause he could not understand why British wanted to be the part of EEC. He opposed the decision on the ground that the membership of EEC was not compatible with the economy of the Britain, with its deficiency in its balance of payment. In addition to this, he thought that being the member of the EEC would not be compatible with the tradition of Britain for receiving the cheap and inexpensive food from all around the globe. \

According to French President; Charles De Gaulle, another aspects which had made the Britain significantly incompatible with the Europe, was its economy in which the working practices as well as the agricultural practices made Britain incompatible with the Europe. Not only this, the commonwealth tie, close links to the United States as well as domestic agricultural policy of the Britain were the major obstacles and hindrancesin its way towards becoming a member of the EEC. Shortly, it was not acceptable for Charles De Gaulle to assume that despite of being a global power and having a world trade links, politicalinstitutions as well as cheap food from the voluntary association of equal and independent countries; Britain wanted to join the EEC.

Dated back to the early 1970s when the UK  joined the European Union due to the variety of reasons, such as: to avoid the economic related problems which had been contributing the economic decline as a whole and to improve the economic growth and performance. The per capita gross domestic product (GDP) of the UK relevant to the founding members of EU steadily declined from the year 1945 to 1972. However, it was stable between the years 1973 and 2010,which suggest that the benefits from being the member of the European Union (EU), particularly considering that through sponsoring the overpowered integration model; UK joined EU very late. Being a member of the UN had allowed the Europe to instill the economic growth and provide the employment opportunities to the residents. Additionally, the Britain joined EU because the French president De Gaulle left, the free trade area integration model was sunk and the commonwealth was not able to compete. But above all these reasons, one of the major reason behind Britain joining EU and being a member for so long was perceived to be the way of dealing with the economic downturn and improving the growth of economy. Not only this, the membership of the EuropeanUnion has increased the openness to the labor, investment as well as flow of trade.The removal of the non-tariff barriers as well as the free tradehad helped the country in reducing the prices and costs for the consumers. It is pertinent to note that due to the increased trade with the EU, the country  created employment and higher incomes successfully, which in turn contributed to the performance and growth of the economy positively. Furthermore, after joining the European Union (EU); the economy of the Britain got comparatively stable than it was ever before, which provided it a strong basis to remain the member of EU. On this strong basis, becoming a member of the EU worked for the Britain, as it helped to halt the relative economicdecline of the Britain.

Part C

If the Britain would leave the EU, everything related to this would come to an end. By  doing so, there would be no transition period and the UK would have to leave the custom union, single market as well as other European Union institutions on immediate basis.
