New entrepreneurs are in a difficult situation: Seventy-five percent of the new round seed companies in North America never reach the next level of funding, and only 12 percent eventually successfully deliver a product or service. Why try? “Because my idea is better than everyone else, and the figures do not apply to me.” We all have those “necessary illusions” in our mind, the author says. Dangerous illusions, moreover, are only. The question is, how to distinguish between necessary and dangerous illusions illusions? He argues that the answer is to become a researcher in his own life and a business that requires you to take the perspective of an alien.
