The case scenario describes the usage of linen at the Apollo hospitals. Dr Ananth N Rao, head of quality at the Apollo hospitals believed the expense of linen direction could be optimized using mathematical programming techniques which may have an important effect on the hospital’s bottomline.
Managing Linen at Apollo Hospitals Case SolutionEach bed in the hospital is given a pillow cover as well as two bed sheets; yet, there was 2% added usage of linen owing to various reasons including linen becoming filthy, wet, etc. Apollo hospital keeps a security stock of linen for just two days and any linen that were sent for washing is returned on day d+2. The aim will be to create a mathematical programming model to minimize the overall price of linen direction.
