Kimpton Hotels – Setting Prices on Priceline (A) Case Solution & Answer

In June 2008, the management of the Regional Manager Kimpton income (director) in Washington, DC trying to deal with the latest customer information report Priceline.com (Priceline). In an attempt to improve revenue during periods of low occupancy of the hotel, the manager had recently used the “name your own price” Priceline bid format. Although the use of this sales channel has limited success, the director asked the best way to maximize revenue without cannibalizing existing Priceline sales or tarnish the Kimpton brand. Their challenge was to create a pricing strategy to determine the optimal price shown for hotel rooms in Washington, DC, and the number of documents that must be provided through Priceline.
