Kenny Kahn at Muzak (A) Case Solution & Answer

Founded in 1934, Muzak pioneer in the field of background music. Equipped with proprietary technology and an extensive library of music through the decades that followed the Muzak franchise organization expanded geographically. Despite a history of innovation in the late 1990s were anemic and low moral Muzak Financial employees. When the new CEO, Bill Boyd, took the reins in 1997, assembled a new management team. The new vice president of marketing, Kenny Kahn, worked with the design firm Pentagram to re-brand of the company, not only to customers but to stimulate organizational change. But because Muzak is a franchise organization, Kahn had to convince independent affiliates to pay for what turned out to be a major rebranding. This case can be used to learn how the brand can be used as a tool to lead the culture change, not to influence without authority and how entrepreneurs can work effectively with a design company.
