This case concerns Cricket in India after the World Cup 2007 and leading to the first signs of Twenty20 cricket tournament Indian Premier League (IPLT20). After removal of India from the knockout phase of the World Cup 2007 (One Day Cricket), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and sponsors the team met the crossroads. Sports and others competed with cricket for advertising budgets of companies and, in this context, IPLT20 born. As IPLT20 captured the imagination of viewers, the Sahara Group, an Indian conglomerate, has faced the possibility of bidding for a new franchise, which could be one of the two additional teams to join the existing eight teams IPLT20. The Sahara Group had some doubts about continuing its sponsorship of the test team India in the past and missed the opportunity to own a franchise in the launch of the IPLT20 two years earlier.
