Founder-CEO Succession at Acer Case Solution

Stan Shih, founder and CEO of Acer, Inc., decided to transition proactively successor “perfect” as CEO, but now faces big problems. In the past two years, his heir, Leonard Liu had made the changes that had been hired to do, including the reorganization of the structure of the organization and the introduction of a new corporate culture that emphasizes accountability. However, these changes have led to numerous confrontations between him and the other co-founders of the company, in particular Shih’s wife, Carolyn. Liu is now suggested that “Carolyn should retire in your kitchen.” Facing office infighting and increasing clashes between Chinese and Western styles of management clearly, Liu Shih needed to manage the growing complexity of global competition. However, Shih now wondering if I made the right decision to appoint as his successor Liu.
