FIRA: Confronting the Mexican Agricultural Crisis, Spanish Version Case Solution
A crisis was faced by Mexico’s agriculture sector in Autum 2003, which was due toa surge in affordable U.S. imports resulting from NAFTA and inaccessible and/or expensive terms of credit for Mexican agricultural producers.
It was getting tough for Mexican companies to compete, and many were leaving farming for the city. Director of FIRA, Francisco Mere, a second-tier development bank, was in the process of implementing and developing a brand new strategy that would more effectively and economically reinvigorate the Mexican agricultural system.
