This case shows how institutional transitions in the formation of market strategy and performance of a small business and its competitive dynamics surrounding emerging countries. Elite Optical, a family business founded in Nanning, Guangxi Province during China’s economic reforms in the late 1980s. His first glasses shop, opened in 1986, was an immediate success when the only major competitor at the time was Heng De Li, a company that belongs to the traditional state (SOE). In 2013, the family-owned company has celebrated its 28th anniversary with 15 points of view in the city of Nanning sale. However, the competitive landscape in the eyewear industry has changed dramatically and has become more intense since the 2000s when most national and international players have entered the tops of the local markets.
