Chinese foreign direct investment in the United States: Location choice determinants and strategic implications for the State of Indiana Case Solution & Answer

As Chinese investment in the United States between 2007 and 2011, this article (1) examines the determinants of the location choice of Chinese enterprises, (2) trying to understand why some American states receive relatively large amounts of investment in China, (3) evaluate if past trends are likely to continue in the future, and – perhaps most importantly – (4) tries to identify what (if any) of the State of Indiana may be a better position to capture a larger amount of Chinese investment in moving forward. We recommend the following measures for the state of Indiana: (1) the target company – Indiana is a prime target for foreign direct investment, business execution, investment in new private facilities, (2) differentiation – Indiana has differentiated compared to other spots in the benefits of the Midwest (3) promotions – trade and foreign offices are investments, not expenses missions (4) Investments in relationships – cultural sensitivity and friendship make the difference.
