Chery Automobile Company: Evolution of the Chinese Automotive Industry Case Solution & Answer

In 1908, Henry Ford revolutionized the automobile industry, significantly reducing production costs by using assembly lines. A century later, on the other side of the world, a Chinese auto maker unknown, Chery has been involved in a similar revolution in appearance: the production of cheap cars at a price of around $ 5,000 U.S. Chinese middle class to the masses. To achieve its objective, Chery initially approved based on imitation cost strategy. In December 2004, GM Daewoo filed a complaint against Chery for design piracy. The success of the QQ model and the possibility of success in the future continues to lead the direction of Chery dreaming of changing to a more mature auto maker Chery. In December 2006, two years after its launch test GM, Chery was the best candidate on the list of Chrysler to produce a small car for sale in the United States. The question remains whether Chery could become a local manufacturer to a truly global player in the automotive industry crowded and not very profitable
