The manager of logistics at Walmart Canada, was increasing tactic for a fresh distribution center in Alberta. Senior management had presented a challenge to her to not construct the sustainable distribution center on the planet? Much stayed uncertain about the best way to translate this challenge into particular activities, while keeping in mind corporate targets for sustainability. Her team was investigating three alternatives that assured to be greener: hydrogen fuel cells for LED lighting, forklift trucks and renewable energy generation from on site wind turbines. Any investment in these technologies that are sustainable had to make business sense and the distribution center’s managing performance could drastically change.
