Bringing Open Innovation to Services Case Solution

In previous work, the author argues that the concept of open innovation companies need to organize both their innovation process to be more open to external ideas and knowledge and also allow more ideas and knowledge flows out when not used internally . However, the initial discussion of open contrast with traditional R & D and innovation in product development, which has led to focus more on products and technological innovation in service innovation. Open innovation works a little different in service businesses, partly because the role of the client is different in a service business, the customer is often involved in an iterative process with the company that results in an experience of customer. Moreover, innovation processes operate differently in services. Few companies have R & Dress of the services they provide D and the customer may have to participate in the whole process of innovation in services. Some of the concepts of open innovation can be easily applied to service innovation. For example, Amazon. com has not only developed a innovative open service by putting the customer review “off” to think Amazon.com and others that sell Amazon products on the site, but also to take the “inside”, for example using the knowledge and internal infrastructure to create a business selling cloud services to other companies. Companies wishing to move toward open service innovation can try techniques such as close collaboration with customers to develop new solutions for them, focusing on service offerings for customers, rather that product and integration company in a customer organization. Companies that traditionally oriented product may have to make some changes in the organization, such as changing the price of services, as they move towards a more service-oriented approach.
