Armscor: Life After Apartheid? Case Solution
After taking office, the new president, Nelson Mandela of South Africa, must decide whether to dismantle or support Armscor, South Africa’s state-owned arms company, which has been a pillar of the apartheid regime.
Complicating matters is the fact the arms industry was South Africa’s top manufacturing exporter and a major company. If Mandela decides to support Armscor, the firm must develop a strategy to obtain a substantially bigger share of a rapidly decreasing world market.
