The case study describes the efforts of the African Development Corporation (CAF) and the Loita Group to acquire shares of Nile Commercial Bank (NCB) – Icon number one bank in South Sudan – yy participate in the development of South Sudan as a rich products independent state. The case concerns the CEO of ADC, Dirk Harbecke, which in 2011 published a fund that invests in banking and insurance in sub-Saharan Africa. The case addresses whether ADC and Loita should invest in BCN. The result in the real business world is ADC and any investment bank Loita, as explained in “The restructuring of the bank”, making the investment, such as real-time in September 2011.
